Small, clean, quiet and friendly
In purpose built, apartment-style accommodation with polished floorboards, back balcony with ocean views and cool comfortable rooms all year round, you can relax and enjoy the delights of beautiful Hervey Bay and Fraser Island.

With only 28 beds in total and a maximum of 7 people sharing excellent facilities such as modern, fully equipped kitchens, you can experience personal service and develop friendships with fellow guests in a quiet, intimate setting.

No rowdy bars, no cramped dorms, no walking to an outside amenities block, just relax, meet new friends and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Now with free bike hire - the only way to explore the 10km of bike paths on Hervey Bay's famous Esplanade! Save up to $15 per 1/2 day. Also free Internet session with every booking.

It's the little things that count -bedside tables with individual lamps and clock radio, quality soft toilet tissue, "real" ovens, microwaves and fridges in the kitchen, TV & DVD player and lots of other little homely touches that you don't find in other hostels. Internet and guest phone (for incoming and outgoing calls) available 24 hours. Facilities are not locked early like other hostels in the area, you choose when you want to watch TV, make a cuppa (free tea, coffee, milk & sugar), cook dinner just like you would at home.

Real beds with real inner sprung mattresses
Only 3 or 4 beds to a dorm all with comfortable inner sprung mattresses and crisp, fresh linen.

For larger groups traveling together, enjoy the luxury, comfort and space of your own apartment for dorm prices.

Safe and Secure
Now with one locker per person in dorms - your own locker with space for your backpack or suitcase, hanging space, coat hangers and a bookshelf for all of those other little bits and pieces.

Security screens on all accessible windows (insect screens on all windows); security screens on all entrance doors and alarmed secure storage for your baggage while you are away. Your safety, security and comfort are important to us.

Tours to Fraser Island are our specialty and because we have done all of the tours and are completely independent, we can help you to find the tour that suits you.

There are no hidden costs at the Friendly Hostel. No key deposits, linen deposits, crockery deposits etc. All the following are provided to all guests free of charge:
- Bike hire
- Fresh linen with all beds ready made upon arrival (towels provided on request with all twins and doubles)
- Courtesy pick up from the Hervey Bay transit centre or airport (conditions apply for airport pickups)
- Cooking oil, sugar, flour and spices
- Tea, coffee, sugar & milk (for your tea or coffee)
- Phone with incoming call access and outgoing 1800 & emergency access
- Unbiased, independent advice on all tours
- Ocean views and cool sea breezes
Book your Fraser Island, Lady Elliott Island, Whitsunday Sailing and other tours through our in-house booking office and you receive a choice of free bonus options and:
- Baggage storage on all overnight tours from Hervey Bay
- Airport transfers for Lady Elliot Island
- Day charge if you are leaving on a night bus with all Whitsunday Sailing tours

Please NOTE Check in outside of office hours 7:00am - 7:00pm is by prior arrangement only. After 9pm you may only check into private rooms. Please contact us on 1800 244 107 before making a booking outside of office hours. No check in or check out available on Xmas Day 25th December and Boxing Day 26th December or between 10:00am 31st December and 6pm 1st Jan.

If you are traveling by bus call us preferably in advance or when you arrive at the bus terminal and we will pick you up (7:00 am - 7:00 pm only) If you do not let us know in advance which bus you are on - we may not have someone immediately available to collect you. Out side of these hours you are usually able to check in but please contact the hostel directly before making a reservation and you will need to make your own way to the hostel.

By car - come straight into Hervey Bay, once you are past McDonalds and Pizza Hut keep going until you see Scarness beach - Queens Rd signposted on your left. Turn left, go down the hill to the stop sign (the police station is on your right) turn right - we are about 300 meters down on the left.

By plane: the airport shuttle costs just $8.00 and will drop you off at the door. For 2 - 5 people a limousine costs just $18.00 flat rate phone them on (07) 41245855
