Our aim is to provide affordable, clean and comfortable B&B accommodation for the budget conscious traveler.

Built as a large guesthouse in the late 1800's, we bring you great value nightly or weekly accommodation - use your holiday cash for your holiday, not for overpriced accommodation.

It's our opinion and that of our guests, that we have a fantastic location just on the southern side of the city, in the heart of South Yarra, which is home to the beautiful Botanical Gardens (see photos) and many more famous attractions. You can walk through the park and along the Yarra river to get into the city or you could just hop on the tram which runs outside our door. There are plenty of bars and cafes locally as well as shopping and dining to cater for every budget along Toorak Rd and Chapel Street. The number 8 tram runs along our street so everything is only a short ride away - St Kilda's fashionable restaurants and beaches, the city, the Melbourne Cricket Ground and Albert Park - home of the Melbourne Grand Prix. All trams and trains are within walking distance.

We have over fifty rooms which vary in size from small budget singles to large double rooms with balconies. Each well equipped with a color TV, fridge, microwave, kettle, heater, wardrobe, dressing table, and, most importantly, a guaranteed comfortable bed. None of our rooms have en-suite bathrooms but there are plenty of bathrooms located close by in each corridor.

At St Arnaud we have very high standards and all rooms are very clean, complete with fresh linen and towels.

We have a fully equipped communal kitchen and provide a help yourself continental breakfast of tea, espresso coffee, cereals, orange juice, preserves and toast. You are welcome to use our kitchen and cook for yourself just as long as you are willing to clean up! There's also a large dining room with three fast Internet computers and a large video selection in the cozy TV room, all open 24 hours.

We also offer well priced nightly accommodation to backpackers, 4 bed dorms or your own double/twin/triple room - why stay at a hostel or hotel when we offer the best value budget B&B accommodation in the very best area!

GETTING HERE
Locally:

Take the No.8 Toorak tram towards Toorak from outside Flinders Street station or anywhere on Swanston St (city) - approx. 10 minutes and get off in Park Street, South Yarra, stop number 24, at the Botanical Gardens. (N.B. not Park Street, South Melbourne - so many people end up there). You then cross the road towards the shops and walk along Park Street for one minute and you will see St Arnaud on your right on Park Street, South Yarra.

From the Airports:

Tullamarine (Melbournes main airport): the Skybus has regular service to Spencer St station for $13 where you can take the train to Flinders St station and get the No.8 Tram as above.

A taxi from Tullamarine airport will cost about $50 to our door.

If you fly to Avalon airport with Jetstar you will need these instructions to get to us. Again there is a bus at $14 per adult to Spencer St station, Melbourne.
A Taxi from Avalon could cost a small fortune!! ($80 or more)
