Ponsonby Backpackers Hostel is a converted 19th Century Villa located in a quiet, pretty tree lined road in one of Auckland's Premier inner city suburbs. We are one of Auckland's smaller hostels (30 beds) and have a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere for the international traveler.

Ponsonby is THE place to be in Auckland. It consists mainly of cafes, bars, night-clubs, restaurants with a few alternative bookstores and shops for good measure. It's an historic area that has become fashionable with well off young people. The budget traveler can still find traditional NZ takeaways such as fish and chips.

Our office hours are 8am till 7pm. We also have a lunch break from 12-2 anyone coming out of these hours should make a special request or be willing to wait until the office is open.

From Auckland International or Domestic Airports (24km) for two or more people, take a shuttle bus. One only - take the Airbus to the City Center ($15) and take the Link Bus to cnr Ponsonby Road & Franklin Road ($1.50)
From the Northern Motorway Take the "Ponsonby" Exit
From the Southern Motorway Take the "Nelson Street" Exit
