National Park Backpackers is built around a challenging indoor climbing hall. Magnificent view of volcanoes right from doorstep
Spa pool, BBQ, camping, off street parking, internet, and DOC hut passes for Northern Circuit Great walk, small grocery shop, and hire of crampons/ice axes in winter.
Indoor Climbing Hall, 8 m high, 55 top Rope climbs, in grades 10 - 26 (beginners-advanced), open daily, gear hire available.

Gateway to the Tongariro Alpine Crossing - best 1 day hike in NZ - 7-8 hours

Our own bus runs daily (weather permitting), $ 25 pp/return, transport to Northern Circuit, Mt Ruapehu crater climb, mountain bike trails, Whakapapa ski field. Whanganui river trips, canoe or jet boat, free pick up from intercity bus stop and train station, bar/restaurant next door

The guests need to bring sleeping bags for dorm rooms or can hire a duvet for $ 2 per night. Private rooms are made up.

National Park Village is on SH 4, central North Island. National Park Backpackers is 50 m down Finlay St, off SH4. Coming from north/Auckland we are on the 3rd street off to the right, coming from south Wellington/Wanganui, 1st off to the left once in National Park Village.
