A warm, friendly, modern traveler?s lodge nestled in the heart of Franz Josef village, with great views of the rainforest and mountains. We are centrally located, close to shops, restaurants, bars and all local activities.

Our friendly staff is ready to give you advice on what to do in and around the Westland National Park. After a whole day of fun you can enjoy a good kiwi style BBQ in our covered outdoor BBQ area or jump in the sauna to rejuvenate your body!

We also have a book exchange, board games and free DVD and video hire. We have spacious communal areas with large screen TVs, comfortable beds with linen provided, central heating, laundry facilities and well equipped kitchens with free tea and coffee.
The en-suite rooms have a TV and video player, towels and linen provided.

The newest addition to our services is a FREE CD writing facility at reception!

We provide free 24 hour internet in the winter months (5 May-30 October)!

You arrive in town on State Highway 6. Turn off the main road at the Mobile Petrol Station and at the end of the street turn right. From here you will see the big Montrose Backpackers sign on the right hand side of Cron Street. Off street parking available at the front or at the back of the building.
