Welcome to Teep's 'Mai Pen Rai' Bungalows. 'Mai Pen Rai' Bungalows is one of the oldest resorts in Koh Phangan, founded by Teep about 20 years ago. 'Mai Pen Rai' is situated in a tropical paradise infringed with swaying palms and green turquoise waters. 'Mai Pen Rai' which means 'no problem' is as the name implies - the restaurant is easy going with funky and artistic decoration, the ambiance is chilled out and unpretentious. This is the kind of place for those seeking something different, away from the commercial beaches of Koh Phangan and lively night life, this is for those seeking peace and nature in perfect harmony.
Here the famous Than Sadet river meanders down the mountainside through the dense jungle and exits into the sea beside MaiPenRai restaurant. The river and waterfalls once visited by their Majesties King V, VII and IX, who carved their initials on the huge granite rocks that grace this river, have now become one of the most tranquil and popular places on the island to visit and relax. Parts of Thansadet beach and Waterfall due to these royal connections are National Park land. A short walk across the bridge and over the hill brings one to the neighboring smaller beach of Thong Reng, infringed with beautiful palms, and soft white sands.
This corner of Than Sadet has a unique, simple rustic feeling, that of the old Koh Phangan and is surrounded by wild jungle behind and a coast line of rugged wildness - ideal for treks and boat trips to the neighboring beaches on the East coast of Ko Pha-ngan. The atmosphere in Thansadet is still simple, rustic, and slightly bohemian, with the emphasis on keeping in touch with the roots of nature around. Mai Pen Rai offers a large variety of bungalows to travelers on different budgets, with a choice of 35 bungalows on the beach, on the river, and on the rocks. Each bungalow is totally different, not one being the same. All the cabins are artistically and thoughtfully designed to harmoniously blend in with the beautiful surroundings, incorporating the large granite boulders into the design of the bungalows.
This is truly a paradise where nature lovers and artists from all walks of life can come together, and enjoy the peace and serenity of this unique corner of the world. Due to the remote situation of Than Sadet and the factor that it is in National Park territory, government electricity has not reached Than Sadet. This in fact adds to the charm of the place. Power is run by generator and is switched on from 11.00 am until 4.00 pm, and then again 6.00 pm until midnight.

Bangkok - Koh Samui - Koh Phangan
The most direct way is to fly from Bangkok to Koh Samui and then:
Take a taxi / mini bus to Big Buddha pier and finally join the boat to Haad Rin Beach Koh Phangan. The boat leaves 3 times daily at 10.30 a.m., 1.00 p.m. and 4.00 p.m.
Take a taxi / mini bus to Nathon pier and join the express boat to Thongsala, Koh Phangan. The Express boat leaves 2 times daily at 11.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m.
Bangkok - Suratthani - Koh Phangan
Take train, bus or fly from Bangkok to Surat Thani. Then join the bus to Donsak pier and take the Ferry boat to Thongsala, Koh Phangan. The Ferry leaves 3 times daily at 10.00 a.m.,
2.00 p.m. and 6.00 p.m.
Please take the 1.00 car taxi from Thong Sala, meet at our office, Teeps Than Sadet Travel, beside the Yellow Cafe. Fare is 100 Baht per person. If you arrive later than this, please phone us before you arrive or upon arrival to organise private transport.
