Nestled between the rugged mountains and wilderness of the South West National Park World Heritage Area, the beautiful D'Entrecasteaux Channel and only 20 nautical miles from Australia's southern-most point it makes a haven for those who take the journey. Join the many like-minded who share our wilderness ideals and come from all over the world to stay and explore this corner of the Far South of Tasmania.
To compliment our backpackers, we offer the new fully self-contained Wilderness Lodge. Contemporary and private, with 2 doubles, 2 bathrooms, and 6 singles upstairs, or our backpackers on the waterfront, doubles, individual 6 bed "bunkstyle" dorms, commercial kitchen and separate lounge the 'Olegas Truchanas Lounge'. Far South is the ideal base camp to the World Heritage Area, Hartz Mountain, Adamson's Peak, the Southcoast track, and Australia's Southern-most point. Glow-worm & Adventure cave with Southern Wilderness Eco Adventure Tours, or visit Hastings Caves & Thermal Pool.
Sea Kayaking - sheltered and protected inlets and islets on the estuary for beginners, to rugged coastlines and isolated islands for advanced, experienced kayakers. All safety gear included with kayak hire.

Mountain Bike Riding - Enjoy exploring the local environs on one of our 22 mountain bikes

Full day hire: $15 (long term hire by arrangement)
French Longboat Tours - Dress in revolutionary French costume, Learn of the areas? special link with Napoleon Bonaparte and Josephine as you row with les comrades in the 18? longboat, ?La Chaloupe? and relive the D?Entrecasteaux Expedition of 1792 with local historian Paddy Prosser. A great evenings? entertainment. (bookings essential)

Fishing - the Esperance River has the reputation as the "hottest spot", and is described in fishing magazines as just that. You can hire our 13'6 'Islander' fishing Dinghy for $90 per day or fish from the shore.
