Bridge Street Backpackers (Bumbles)is a former luxury hotel in central Nelson, just across the road from the Inter City Bus Station and only 5 minutes walk from the other bus station. We are close to supermarkets, bars, cafes, clubs, cinemas and restaurants. We are 10 minutes drive from the beach, golf course and airport.

There are a variety of interesting and adventure activities available in the area, including kitesurfing, paragliding, skydiving, mountain biking, sea kayaking and winter skiing and snowboarding. Our experienced staff can recommend the activity to suit your interests and budget and will be happy to make bookings for you.

If you only have a short time in Nelson there are a number of short or longer walks available close to the city which can take you to a viewpoint where you can see extensive views of our city, harbour and the mountains across the other side of Tasman Bay. For rock climbers or people wanting a go at climbing there is an indoor climbing wall only 5 munutes walk from the hostel.

The hostel has been extensively upgraded since the present owners, Kath and Tony took over in 2003. We have a variety of accommodation types from a basic dorm room to double and twin rooms with private bathrooms. We offer free use of our pool table abnd dartboard, or you may prefer to play chess, cards, scrabble or to have a go at on of our many jig-saw puzzles

From Inter-City walk across Bridge Street and turn right for 40 metres. From the Visitor Centre cross to Trafalgar Street and head South until you see Bridge Street. Turn right and you will soon come to the hostel. If driving into town, follow Waimea Rd until it changes to Rutherford Street. Turn right into Bridge Street at the 3rd set of lights and you will see the hostel on the right.
