About The Albatross Backpacker Inn.
We pride ourselves at the Albatross Backpacker Inn on our relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Our building boasts a fabulous lounge to relax in and heated rooms throughout. There is well appointed kitchen available or guests can make use of the outdoor Bar-B-Q area and veranda if you fancy some alfresco dining. The buildings were once the Kaikoura Post Office, Telephone Exchange & Postmasters Residence and have been designated as Heritage Buildings, in fact, the old post office safe still stands impressively in our reception!
Other facilities include on-site carparks, Sky T.V. & video movies to watch for free, pack lockers for those guests wishing to store luggage and Internet, e-mail and phone card facilities for travellers wishing to keep in touch or plan the next stage of their trip. We are only a short walk from the town centre too, so you'll have access to a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants. Ask our staff for their recommendations!
As for our accommodation, we have something suit everyone. We have a range of rooms and dorms all with a Turkish theme and semi-enclosed bunks with reading lights. So whether you are visiting Kaikoura as a group or travelling around on your own, whether you are looking to share or looking for some privacy, you'll find something to suit your budget. We also have a self-contained motel style unit with two double bedrooms and a lounge/kitchen.
