Hostel Description

Our hostel started operation in September 2003, and has received much favourable feedback and good ratings from many guests. You just need to ask some of the guests who have found this little "gem", why many of our guests keep extending their stay, and keep returning to stay, at ?A Travellers Rest-Stop.?

Here are just some of the reasons as given to us by our guests ...

?Convenient and central location right in the city; in Chinatown with all its awe and mystery, and close by to many of the amenities which travellers need. The great location here can be seen from the fact that within just a stone's throw from our hostel, there are 6 other hotels, all catering to different categories of travellers.

?Cosy, colourful rooms and dorms with comfortable beds in a quiet, safe & friendly neighbourhood, where travellers can get a peaceful rest after their action-packed day roaming around the town.

?Choice of private rooms and small mixed dorms. All our doubles/twin and dorms have individually-controlled air-conditioning, windows and attached bathrooms with hot & cold showers.

?Small 4-bed & 6-bed dorms with wooden bunk beds. Small dorms mean that it is easier to develop friendships with your room-mates, and also means that there is lesser chance of a room-mate who snores, or who have foul body odour, that keeps everyone else awake.

?All necessary bed linen provided, including towels, for all guests.

?Wide choice of cheap and good food options within easy walk, with some food outlets open 24-hours. We understand that many of our guests come from countries where eating out can be a costly affair. However, eating out in Singapore, like in most parts of Southeast Asia, can go very easy on your wallets. Singapore is a gourmets' paradise, and you may be amazed by the wide variety of food that you can find around our hostel. If you are just too tired to walk out, we also provide a small guest kitchen where you can cook meals for yourself.

?Easy transport access to most of the local attractions, due to the many bus routes and two MRT (the local sub-way system) lines passing through our area.

?Friendly and knowledgeable staff, who have also travelled widely, and know very well the needs of fellow travellers. Our staff are ever ready to provide suggestions and advice on exploring Singapore, and the surrounding region. The Singapore Tourism Board provides us regular supplies of free maps and updated brochures of local attractions, for our guests to plan their sight-seeing itinerary in Singapore.

?24 hours access with no curfew, no lock-out & no chores.

?Non-smoking environment, with no rowdy parties (except on very special occasions) and no in-house bars, and that does not necessarily mean no fun. What we have found is that there is so much partying to enjoy out there, that many of our guests just want to be able to come back and have a good night?s rest. For those who just need to light up that cigarette, we have an open roof-top patio. For those who just need to have that drink, there are ample "watering holes" in the trendy pub district nearby.

?Traveller's essentials like internet access (wire /wireless broadband), international phone calls, self-service laundry, etc, are all available at very reasonable cost.

?As one of the few hostels in Singapore that is licensed by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), it means that our premises comply with all the necessary fire safety codes, building hygiene and sanitation codes, etc, etc. Our guests' health and safety always remain one of our major concerns.

While other hostels in Singapore may claim to be cool, hip, premier, party all the time; we offer travellers a relaxed and comfortable stay in a clean, friendly and homely atmosphere. Overall, if you compare our location, facilities, services, convenience, hospitality and price, you will find that we provide a memorable experience at the best value for your money.

It is easy for each hostel to write fancy descriptions of themselves, but what the guests write are more credible. Just check-out our guestbook and read our guests' comments for yourselves. You can also checkout our photo gallery to view some photos of our facilities, our recent guests and some snapshots of our local attractions. We greatly appreciate the generosity of some of our guests who have kindly allowed us to put some of their photos in our photo gallery, for all travellers to view.

** Reception hours: 07:30 a.m. to 23:30 p.m. Late arrivals welcome, if you expect to arrive at our hostel later than 23:30 p.m. or before 07:30 a.m. please contact us in advance, by email /phone, for check-in instructions! Our details will be supplied on your confirmation of booking.
