Coffs Harbour is on the coast between Sydney and Brisbane and is known mostly as a family holiday spot. There are a few hostels in Coffs Harbour that have cheap beds for anyone looking to avoid staying in one of the pricy hotels in the area. And as a summer beach destination obviously it’s very important to book your Coffs Harbour hostel well in advance as the area does fill up early during peak times.

Most people do visit for the beach activities and other water attractions in the area so it’s fortunate that most of the hostels in Coffs Harbour are near the ocean, but there is one more in the city with the cheapest beds in town if that is what you are looking for. As a family destination the city has quite a few holiday apartment rental places that are usually rented by the week, and this can make things complicated for people wanting to just stay for a couple of days. The hostels in Coffs Harbour are all available for single-night stays so they are a great way to save money on a quick trip through town to see the Big Banana, which is the first of the many “big” things along Australia’s highways.

A private double without a bathroom starts around $AUD30 per person, and ones with bathrooms are only a couple dollars higher. There is good nightlife nearby, and they’ll even pick you up from the bus station if you arrange it in advance.

The Plantation Hotel is not nearly as close to the beach, but they do have cheap beds and their own restaurant and bar. Beds in their 14-bed dorms start around $AUD17 per night, with less crowded rooms only a dollar or two more.
