Book the Best Hostels in Boracay

Australia Hostels

There are very few traditional hostels in Boracay, but many hotels, resorts, and guesthouses that will perfectly suit the Boracay hostel crowd. Hotel prices range from budget all the way up to extravagant and fortunately quite a few of the budget places are quite nice and should do well for anyone who was more interested in a hostel in Boracay.

Of course this small resort island is all about the beach and fun in the sun. There are two main beaches on the island – one facing west and the other facing east – and each has a different personality so you want to choose your Boracay hostel or hotel based on your interests rather than strictly on price.

White Beach is the one facing west and it’s the main tourist beach and has the majority of the hotels and hostels in Boracay. There is a long stretch with a promenade separating the sand from the hotels and restaurants, but in the north and south areas of White Beach the businesses are literally on the sand.

The one facing east is Bulabong Beach and it has less tourist development, but it’s the most popular place for windsurfing and kite-boarding on the island. Needless to say, the people who prefer to read, drink, and sunbath all day tend to end up at White Beach while the active crowd prefers to stay near Bulabong Beach.

Many of the places that list themselves on the Boracay hostels page really call themselves resorts, but of course all resorts are not created equally. Obviously putting that word in your name is a way of making people think that luxury will be the order of the day from morning until night, but this isn’t always true when you arrive.

Pay close attention not only to the location of the Boracay hostel or hotel you are choosing, but the features they offer as well. On the detail page for each establishment it will list all of their features and facilities, and in this part of Asia it’s important to look closely at that. In North America, Australia, and Europe, some things are just assumed to be included, but that isn’t always the case here.

And look carefully at the maps of each place you are considering. Many places in these resort islands will say they are 2 minutes or 5 minutes from the beach, but how far is that really? Part of the fun of booking at a beach resort area is staying right on or just across from the beach and you don’t want to be surprised when you arrive to find yourself 7 city blocks away.

The Frendz Resort is one of the few hostels in Boracay that offers shared dorm rooms at very low prices. They’ve also got many private rooms from either pairs or groups of up to six. They dorm beds start around US$16 per night and they are close to the best nightlife so they stand out as a favorite of the people looking for a good hostel in Boracay.
